Leslie Surel is the owner of Surelutions. Leslie's design experience is extensive and varied. She began learning graphic design techniques in 1985 on an old MacIntosh when page layout using a computer was a very new field. In 1988, she began working part-time in the graphics department of a Fortune 500 corporation while pursuing her degree at Eastern Michigan University. A few years later, she was hired full time by an international consulting firm in Ann Arbor, where she worked for 8 years as lead graphic designer and department manager.
In 2001, Leslie and her family moved to Chelsea, Michigan. With Leslie's design and website experience and her husband's software programming expertise, they founded Surelutions in 2003.
In addition to owning, operating and designing at Surelutions, Leslie also volunteers her time and expertise for many community events, groups and organizations in and around her local community. Most notably, Leslie is the founder of the Things To Do In Chelsea website, which is a top ranked site for all things to do with Chelsea, Michigan. She is also on the board of directors for the Chelsea Center for the Arts.
Many of Surelutions' web sites start in xHTML and CSS and are designed using Dreamweaver and its supporting suite of software. We also develop numerous websites using CMS tools such as Wordpress and Joomla. We are skilled with the look, feel, and functionality of web sites, and the underlying technologies involved. We make it a point to keep up with both current design and accessibility standards.
Both vector and bitmap software are necessary in a graphics and web design environment. Our bitmap and photo editing software of choice includes Adobe Photoshop, and Macromedia Fireworks. The vector program we use most often is Xara Extreme, which is a great and inexpensive product that compatible with Adobe Illustrator (which we also use), Freehand and CorelDraw.
